Two more for Hatton?

By Daniel Askew: Firstly lets start by looking at next week fight between Hatton and Malignaggi. Malignaggi is a more than competent fighter and given his record of 25 (5) – 1 (0) he should prove to be a difficult fighter for Hatton to beat. Malignaggi has only ever been beaten by Cotto who I feel despite being beaten himself by Antonio Margarito is one of the top pound for pound fighters at this time (so no shame there). Malignaggi’s awkward style could make Hatton look bad and maybe lose some rounds through being outboxed.

However, I feel that Hatton’s power and work rate should be enough to lead him to victory. I would expect Hatton to win this bout in round six or seven through technical knockout, if Hatton’s on form I would predict Malignaggi to wear down from Hatton’s constant power shots and finally drop to the canvas.

Pacman or De La Hoya, or both

Being a boxing fan I am really looking forward to the Pacman, De La Hoya fight. However, I am aware that De La Hoys’s size advantage makes the fight a complete void. Manny will most likely lose the fight and still look good in doing it, making both fighters a lot of money and doing nothing to dent either of the pairs reputations.

Hatton is said to be fighting the winner next year, which is likely to be De La Hoya. This would be a super fight and a boxing fans dream. Hatton and De La Hoya would be a close run fight and I would not like to predict the winner. Again given the size advantage that Oscar would have over Hatton, Hatton has little to lose in taking the fight. If Hatton wins, he has beaten a legend and if De La Hoya wins, Hatton has lost to a bigger man and a future hall of famer.

Finally I think Hatton should finish off is career with one last super fight with Pacman. For me this would be a more interesting fight than Hatton and De La Hoya, in this case Hatton would be the bigger fighter throwing the big shots against the smaller Pacman. However, in my eyes Pacman is the current pound for pound number one and will undoubtedly give Hatton a really tough time. This would an excellent fight to watch and possibly the perfect end to Hatton’s career.

Ricky Hatton should finish his career of against Michael Lieberman!

Who wouldn’t pay for that fight?!

Ricky Hatton will become the best british boxer of all time and one of the best in world ever! He is capable of beating delahoya and the pacman, imagine adding those nameston to his already impresive record!!

I am English and do like Ricky…. However fighting De La Hoya could be a mistake. I think he would lose. Also fighting Pac Man would prove nothing unless he beats De La Hoya (which he wont) because Pac is just too small and Ricky will get the same stick that Oscar is doing for fighting a small man… Ricky should also go NOWHERE NEAR Cotto cos he would really get a kicking!!

So if I was Ricky I would retire

I think people forget what boxing is about. At the end of the day its a entertaining sport. These guys get in the ring to see who is best and to entertain the fans. They both take home a nice amount of cash and are living the high life doing something they love.

Hatton totally gets my respect and will go down in my eyes as a british boxing great. I like his action packed style and his personality outside of the ring. Hes a great funny bloke he deserves respect. He wont back down from any fight worth taking and even at his age he still wants to learn and become a better fighter.

The only bad thing i have to say about Hatton is that his YO YO dieting has cost him maybe 3 or 4 more years of good boxing. if he stayed at a healthy weight like for example Bernard Hopkins then his body would be in far better condition than it is now.

Lets just hope that Mayweather Sr can save Hatton from eating more gloves in his next few fights. Not that i think Paulie can actually hurt Ricky with his weak punches.

The whole fight will see Hatton chasing the guy around the ring… maybe hatton will get caught a few times with counter punches but will keep coming back until he knocks the guy out or wins on points.

I feel that for Hatton to retire may be his only option if he is to go out with any credibility! The men he has beaten (even thoguh of a lower quality of opponent than most of the greatest have beaten) have all been defeated by Hatton except the one real class fighter he came across who is undoubtbly one of the greatest fighters who ever lived in Mayweather!who ultimatley destroyed Hatton and after a few close rounds had Hatton completley sussed!

if he does beat malignaggi and i feel this may be a very difficult task especially as though Hatton has never fought a man like him. If the eye goes so will the fight for Hatton simple as that he needs improvement on his defence no question!

if he steps in with the likes of cotto, de la hoya ,margarito or paul williams moving up or pacman he will with out a shadow of a doubt be out classed and punished for trying to much, he should bow out as a decent fighter who beat some questionable fighters and gave the best a shot and was proved not to be in the same category.
