De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao: A Mistake For Both Fighters

By Peter Taylor: Like many who read this website you may be thinking what is the point of Manny Pacquiao fighting Oscar De La Hoya. I know it will be one of the biggest box office fights in boxing history, but it is a fight which only De La Hoya can win. Apart from Pacquiao’s power and speed he doesn’t have much else to rival De La Hoya, Oscar is bigger, stronger and he is a brilliant defensive fighter.
This fight is going to be interesting to watch but it is a massive mistake for both fighters:
Pacquiao would be better of fighting Marquez again to sort out unfinished business which is a more interesting fight anyway. De La Hoya should retire against a fighter like Cotto or Margarito which would also be a super fight more interesting an would seal Oscar’s name in history if he wins and even if he loses.
I just hope that this fight is a good show and wont turn out to be like Mayweather vs De La Hoya!

The result will surprise a lot people. Manny will win because of Faith. This is the one thing that Oscar doesn’t have.
We have to look at this fight from a different angle. These are two superstars in boxing; Oscar is out of his prime while Pac may still be in his prime. We created the pound for pound category to imagine what would happen if fighters from different weights/eras fought eachother. This fight makes the imaginary fight a reality. Oscar is a Junior Middle Weight whose last fight was at Welter. Pac is a Super Featherweight whose last fight was Lightweight. Oscar did not look good at Welter (too weak); Pac looked good at Lightweight (KO’d a guy that is tough to KO). Of course DLH is the bigger guy. I think the advantages/disadvantages cancel each other out for the most part. This is an interesting fight because it makes the imaginary P4P fight real.
almost everything has been said about the mismatch of this fight. it will be closer than most of you think. pac will still lose. but hoya will gain nothing except the $$$ he worships.
both this guys are fraud, there just doing this fight eor the money,
every one keeps saying that this will be an easy fight for DLH. and I mean eveyone-even most philipinos.
I might not so sure. Manny is a giant in this sport and so is Oscar. Manny has to go up in wieght, Oscar has to go down. how many fights ahve we seen recently when fighter cant make wieght. I see Oscar being really weak having to make this weight and in a much tougher fight than most people think.
oscar i feel was a very good fighter when younger. the last fight with forbes, well, just look at his face. that is from a smaller man. oscar won the fight, and most think he beat forbes up. they are looking at just one side of the coin. see the fight again. oscar was marked up and could not knock forbes out.

sick and tired of what i read about this fight. mis-match, un-even, mistake for both fighters….just wait until the bout is happen then comment and say whatever you want to say….
