Perez KOs Adorno

By Eric Thomas: Undefeated super flyweight Alejandro Perez (12-0-1, 7 KOs) annihilated his opponent Omar Adorno (16-10-1, 10 KOs), stopping him in the 1st round on Friday night at the Expos Center, in the City of Industry, California. The end came suddenly when Perez connected with a big right that flattened the 28 year-old Adorno. Referee Raul Caiz quickly moved in and halted the fight at 2:01 of the 1st round. The fight had mismatch written all over it, as Adorno clearly wasn’t in the same class as Perez and was brought in under less than perfect circumstances given the talent level between the two fighters.

Early on in the first, it was all Perez as he unloaded with beautiful hooks to the body and head. Adorno hardly could get in a punch for himself because of the impressive offensive display being put on by the young Perez. Shortly before the end came, Perez stunned Adorno with a big left hand to the head, leaving him essentially as a sitting duck for anything that he’d throw next.

Perez, mostly an excellent left hand puncher, chose to threw a right hand that almost decapitated Adorno, stopping him in his tracks and sending him down to the canvas. Referee Raul Caiz then quickly jumped in and halted the fight with Adorno face down in the canvas.

Overall, it was an impressive power punching display put on by Perez, who showed that he may be a force in the super featherweight division in the coming future. At 21, he still has a lot of time to grow as a fighter and become even better than he is now. He’ll likely grow out of the super featherweight division in the future and move up possibly as high as lightweight.
