Haye Crushes Maccarinelli In 2nd Round!

haye34333.jpgWBC/WBA cruiserweight champion David Haye (21-1, 20 KOs) needed only two rounds tonight to blast out former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (28-2, 21 KOs) of a scheduled 12-round bout at the O2 Arena in London. After a first round in which both fighters traded big shots, Haye landed a huge right hand in the 2nd round which sent a stunned Maccarinelli down to the bottom rope, where he was a sitting duck for a flurry of free shots from Haye, ending in a huge right hand that dropped Maccarinelli to the canvas. He immediately got up, but then wobbled around the ring like a drunk, prompting for the referee to halt the bout at 2:04 of the second round.

If the fight had been allowed to continue, Haye would have no doubt decapitated Maccarinelli with another huge right hand shot. In the end, Haye was far too powerful for Maccarinelli to deal with. The bout was made even easier by the fact that Maccarinelli was trying to trade shots with Haye rather than staying away until the later rounds of the fight. A bad strategy on Maccarinelli’s part.
