Andy Lee vs. Alejandro Gustavo Falliga On February 2nd

lee46223244.jpgUndefeated middleweight prospect Andy Lee (14-0, 11 KOs) will be taking on the tough Alejandro Gustavo Falliga (14-3-2, 4 KOs) on February 2nd, at the University Sports Arena in Limerick, Ireland. Lee, 23, considered by many people to be one of the best prospects in the middleweight division, has been quickly moving up against tougher competition. In choosing Falliga, 25, Lee is facing his best opponent of his career.

Falliga, from Argentina, has a lot of power and will test Lee’s chin early and often. In his last bout, Falliga lost a majority decision to the excellent prospect Luciano Leonel Cuello in December, knocking him down twice in the process.

Lee, trained by Emanuel Steward, last fought on December 12th, winning a 6th round victory over Jason McKay. Lee was far from impressive in the bout, and took a lot of head shots from Mckay. In his previous bouts, Lee looked next to invincible, but against Mckay, he looked fatigued by the 5th round. Mckay was able to landed well when he backed the tall 6′2″ Lee up, hitting him with right hands.

Lee fired back with his own shots, but he didn’t let his hands go enough, which allowed Mckay to stay in the fight until the 6th round. Overall, I think Lee looked average, and based on this fight, I’d rank him behind other top middleweight prospects Peter Quillin and Joe Greene.
