Alcine Stops Mosquera In 12th!

World Boxing Association light middleweight champion Joachim Alcine (30-0, 19KOs) TKO’d challenger Alfonso Mosquera (19-6, 7KOs) in the 12th round tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The fight was one-sided from the start as Alcine took to the fight to Mosquera, blasting him with hard combinations round after round. In the 11th round, Alcine staggered Mosquera with a big right hand and then followed up with a numerous shots before the round ended.

Mosquera, in bad shape, staggered back to his corner like a drunk. In the 12th round, Alcine hurt Mosquera with a big left hand and then knocked him to the canvas with a powerful left-right combination. Shortly after getting up, Mosquera was knocked down again with a clubbing right hand. After staggering to his feet, Mosquera was snowed under by punches from Alcine. The referee then moved in and stopped the fight as Mosqera could barely stand without staggering.
